Community carer assaulted in Edinburgh

A female community carer was assaulted yesterday in the Gorgie area of the Scottish capital.

The assault took place on Stevenson Road around 1.20pm, when a man approached her and demanded that she hand over her property.

The man, thought to be in his 30s, then cut the woman's hand before running away towards the skate park in Saughton Park.

Police have described the man as:

white, in his early 30s, 5ft 5ins to 5ft 6ins tall, medium build with dark hair, and a spotty face. He spoke with an eastern European accent, and was wearing a black hooded top, black silky bomber jacket, and dark blue denim jeans. He had a small blue star tattoo, or a star-shaped mark, to the right of his right eye.
