Elderly man found dead in Edinburgh street


An investigation is under way in Edinburgh after the discovery of a body in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The body of a 67-year old male was discovered in Gillespie Crescent in the Polwarth area of the city. His death is being described as "unexplained".

The identity of the man has not yet been revealed.

A spokesman from Lothian and Borders Police said, "Police are investigating after the body of a 67-year-old man was found in the street in Gillespie Crescent in Edinburgh in the early hours of the morning.

"Inquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the death, which is currently being treated as unexplained.

"Anyone with information is asked the contact the police immediately".
