Image released of armed robber

Police in Leeds have relased a CCTV still of a knife-wielding robber.

The man was caught on camera as he fled from a victim he had threatened with a knife had challenged and chased him, yesterday morning (Jan 18).

West Yorkshire Police have said :

The incident occurred around 8.35am on the canal towpath near to lock three, which is located just off Wellington Street and close to the junction with Wellington Place.

After being threatened with what was described as 4- 6" inch kitchen knife, the suspect demanded the victim's wallet and phone. The 44-year-old male victim then challenged the would-be robber who turned and ran from the scene towards the City Island complex and Gotts Road.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5ft 10" tall, skinny with dark brown hair and facial stubble. He was wearing a Nike light grey hooded top.

Police believe he may be involved in two similar crimes which occurred earlier in the month at similar locations.
