The trial of Emma West, the woman accused of a racist rant on a tram between Wimbledon and Croydon last November, has been adjourned until mid-July.
Due to appear at Croydon Crown Court today, West is charged with two racially aggravated public order offences, one with intent to cause fear or provocation of violence.
Despite the video documenting the racist abuse (watch here), West has entered a not guilty plea, citing mental health issues as an explanation for the rant. The video has had over 200,000 views on Youtube and caused outrage as it showed West saying "You ain't English...get back to your own f*****g...Britain is nothing now, Britain is f**k all".
The trial has been adjourned until July 16 so that new psychiatric reports may be completed.
