Grasmere Crescents are now allowed back into their homes after yesterday’s bomb scare.
After raiding a flat on the street police found two “suspicious devices”; the bomb disposal unit was called and as a precaution the surrounding homes evacuated at around 11:30 am.
Residents were preparing to find overnight accommodation as police warned they were unsure how long it would take to guarantee the safety of the street again.
Fortunately the street was reopened again after just a few hours, but not before two men and a woman was arrested and taken into custody.
It is understood that the police had not entered the flat looking for explosives and the three people are not connected to any terrorist groups. They are currently detained under the Explosive Substances Act after being arrested for possession.
