A 21-year-old man has died in Longsight after being hit by a car on Anson Road. It is the second serious accident to take place there in the past few weeks. The accident happened in the early hours of Sunday morning Greater Manchester Police received reports of the accident. Although the emergency services were on the scene within 10 minutes, according to one eye witness, the man died later that night in hospital.
Police have not released the name of the person hit, but it is suspected that he is a student due to the number of student housing and halls of residence on Anson Road including David Navin Court, Anselm Court and Canterbury Court.
Greater Manchester Police are appealing for witness for both this and the accident that occurred on the same road on 28th October, there were no fatalities but it was described as a serious collision.
