Renowned author JK Rowling has announced plans to publish her first novel for adults.
Although the date of publication and title are yet to be announced, Rowling has described the book as being "very different" to the world-famous Harry Potter series, and it will also be published worldwide.
Along with the change in writing style, Rowling has chosen a new publisher for her adult fiction book. All seven Harry Potter books have been published by Bloomsbury, which saw to the selling of over 450 million copies around the world.
She explained her decision in a statement: "Although I've enjoyed writing it every bit as much, my next book will be very different to the Harry Potter series, which has been published so brilliantly by Bloomsbury and my other publishers around the world."
"The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry's success has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher."
"I am delighted to have a second publishing home in Little, Brown, and a publishing team that will be a great partner in this new phase of my writing life."
The adult fiction book will be Rowling's first major novel after the publication of the last Harry Potter book in 2007, followed by a supplement book in 2008.
