A "terrorist attack" killed an army officer and wounded 24 others, Syria state media reported on Thursday.

"The blast took place at 8.00 am as an armed terrorist group targeted a military bus with an explosive device at the southern bypass area, near al-Nirab airport bridge in Aleppo," the Guardian reports quoting an official source as saying.

When Damascus accepted to implement the ceasefire on Thursday morning it warned its armed forces will remain on standby to retaliate against any attacks by armed terrorist groups against civilians or troops.

Earlier this morning the situation was reportedly calm in Syria according to Annan's plan which included the implementation of a ceasefire at 6am on Thursday morning, however activists have been reporting several breaches of the ceasefire.
